elop is the LGBT mental health charity that offers a range of social, emotional and support services to LGBTQ+ communities, with core services including counselling and young people’s services. elop can also offer training and consultancy for fellow professionals and those seeking to enhance their understanding of issues facing LGBTQ+ communities.


Mental health and wellbeing services offered by elop

Low-cost counselling for individuals and relationships:

  • Talking therapy with an LGBT therapist.

Mental health protection plan:

  • 1:1 support for people who struggle with their mental health to identify practical ways to manage in times of stress

Mental health safety plan:

  • 1:1 support for people who are experiencing mental health crisis and actively thinking of self-harm and suicide.

ReFocus: psychoeducation wellness workshops:

  • For all our community to better understand our mental health experiences and learn prevention and support measures.

ReClaim: a support group for lesbian, bisexual, trans and non-binary women who have experienced domestic, sexual or any form of violence or abuse.

Imago: mental health peer support group for trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people.

ReCharge: mental health support group for LGBT&NB+ people.

elop also offers a range of wellbeing services that include social and support groups, community events and befriending support:

  • 12-15s youth space
  • 15-18s youth space

  • GBT+ men’s dance sessions
  • Asylum social space
  • LBT+ women’s social space
  • Walking for wellness group
  • 18-25s social space
  • Rainbow Families social group

Each service will let you know what information they need to register your interest and/or book a group space or appointment.

Currently, two of elop's services are operating interest lists; Imago and counselling. 

Imago’s interest list is reviewed monthly and for counselling there is an approximate 10-12 week wait for an initial appointment.


Who should access elop’s services?

elop is a mental health charity that supports people from across the LGB+ and TNB+ identity spectrums. Many people who reach out to elop are experiencing forms of disconnect, loneliness, anxiety, low mood, work stress, unhealthy relationships, impact from current or past trauma, exploring identity, coming out, body image struggles, addictions, negotiating boundaries, struggling with life pressures and much more.


How can elop's services help me?

elop exists to provide a safe space, free from shame, pathology, LGBTphobia and heterocentricism that is LGB+ & TNB+ identity affirming. 

They aim to support you to connect with your true self and others to achieve a sense of belonging, an ownership of space and to find joy in life.

All of elop's staff and volunteers are LGBT+ community and we’re here to help you identify what support you may need and how to get there.

Some services are there to provide space for you to explore your life challenges or vulnerabilities, some aim to help you connect with others and some are just for fun.
