South Asian HangOuts is a twice monthly online group on Zoom for gay, bi and trans men who live in the UK and who have South Asian heritage.

Topic: Film Discussion: Joyland (2022) - Tuesday 21st May (7 - 8.30pm)

Following on from the previous session about Izzat (Honour); We will be having an informal discussion about the film Joyland (2022).

What parts of the film or characters did you connect with and why? What are the main themes or big ideas of Joyland and perhaps how this relates to Izzat (Honour). How did the film make you feel? Were there certain scenes you connected to more? What do you think of the ending?

The format will be: watching the film in your own time before we meet and then an informal discussion about the film. Currently the film is showing on BFI Player, Prime, Apple and Curzon.

What does Izzat (honour) mean to you? How does this show up in families from your lived experiences? We also have a guest speaker in the Film Director/Writer in Abid Khan – who is an LGBTQ+ Ally. Abid will be briefly talking about his forthcoming project which is around Izzat.
