LGBT HERO is the national health and wellbeing charity supporting over 100,000 LGBTQ+ people a month by providing trusted information, advice and various types of support including one-to-one, group and peer-support. 


Mental health and wellbeing services offered by LGBT HERO

Groups

LGBT HERO offer a range of groups, including:

  • Umbrella HangOutsan online support group for anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+. These sessions are a safe space for anyone who is looking for a friendly chat and a sense of community.
  • HangOuts 50+ - a group for LGBTQ+ people over the age of 50 who live/work/socialise in London to come together and connect with one another in a safe and friendly non-judgemental environment. These session will return soon.
  • South Asian HangOuts - an online group for South Asian gay, bi and trans men with South Asian heritage. These session will return soon.

    Peer support

    • Forums a safe and non-judgemental space for LGBTQ+ people to talk to one another about their issues and life experience. 
    • FindOut - on our FindOut service, LGBT HERO has collated the information of hundreds of LGBTQ+ services across the capital to support the community, from sports to clinics.

    Advice

    • LGBT HERO provides help and advice factsheets to help improve your mental health and wellbeing. Topics cover: depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicide, body image, sexual wellbeing and general wellbeing.

    Groups

    LGBT HERO's HangOuts online groupwork runs throughout the year. We are currently offering Umbrella HangOuts which you can sign up for via the LGBT HERO Umbrella HangOuts page.

    Our offering for senior LGBTQ+ people and South Asian gay, bi and trans men will return this year.

    Peer support

    The LGBT HERO forums are easy to use and create safe space for you to ask questions, seek advice and interact with other LGBTQ+ people. Simply launch the forums, create your profile and you can start interacting with other users.

    Use the FindOut service to find everything from community groups and LGBTQ+ sports teams, to clinics and support services.

    LGBT HERO aims to improve the health, enhance the wellbeing and champion the rights of LGBTQ+ people. LGBT HERO provides LGBTQ+ people with accurate and credible information so they can build skills that enable them to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing. We encourage LGBTQ+ people to create social change in our communities by providing a platform where they are heard and valued.
